Ontario Cities Market Conditions

When living in a city like Brantford it might seem that you have all of the best of Ontario right at your fingertips. You are not far from the sights and sounds of the big city but still have a little more tranquility than those living in the city of Toronto. You get to enjoy the beauty of the Grand River and are even less than two hours from the American border. But how do real estate prices compare in Brantford compared to the rest of the province? If you're planning to move from Brantford elsewhere on the Windsor-Quebec corridor or heading to the Brantford area to start anew after selling your townhouse this is a great guide to see what you might be able to afford in a new property.

The average price of a home in the Brantford area is currently around $200,000. This is well under the province average of $329,000 and Canada's average of $328,000. With the middle of the market home in Brantford you are likely to get two to three bedrooms in family-oriented neighbourhood close to schools, public transit and all of the major amenities. Or if your home style caters more to city properties than the homes you would find in Middlesex Ontario real estate you could also settle in a downtown condo with two bedrooms and one bath.

Comparing the nearby cities, the average cost of a home in Hamilton is $288,000 and represents a similar home design. You will find prices in this area for homes in Burlington all the way to London homes. Homes in cities where the population is close to that of Brantford, like Kingston homes, come with prices that match as well. The average cost of a home in Kingston is around $220,000.

When you're moving to a larger city, you can expect to pay some higher prices. The average price for a home in Toronto is just under $410,000, while you'll pay around $325,000 for a home in Ottawa. And it's very unlikely you'll end up with a home design that offers as much space as the options in Brantford or with Windsor real estate.

On the flip side, there are many small towns and villages throughout Ontario with very low home prices. In a city of 20,000 residents or less many homes are sold for around the $150,000 mark. With a country home you will of course be sacrificing access to amenities and increasing your travel time in favour of larger properties with more room inside and out.

But, no matter what you're looking for in a home it's likely you will find something suiting your tastes in Brantford. This city has managed to combine country and city living into being the ideal home for many residents.
